MIBS, Medical Institute named after Sergey Berezin,
is the first and so far the only private MRI diagnostics and radio surgery institution in Russia.
The photo session was held in November 2020 at the Oncological Clinic in the town of Pesochnoe not far from Saint-Petersburg, as well as in the Proton Therapy Center in Saint-Petersburg.
Both Dr. Natalya Berezina, PhD, Chief Medical Officer and Dr. Arkady Stolpner, PhD, Chairman of the MIBS Board of Directors provided me with a ‘carte blanche’ to photograph the Institute life from the inside, behind the scenes, so to say. I could endlessly speak about those two weeks that I spent there. There were no particular highlights, everything actually was unordinary, namely, the friendliness of the personnel since the first second I met them, their dedication to the duties, as well as the highest qualification of each member of the staff and the most efficient management. These words may sound quite trivial, but they are a 100 per cent true about MIBS. And it is not a hidden advertizing, it is a tribute of sincere respect to the people, who have created such a top-level medical service in Russia.
The author expresses particular gratitude to the MIBS Management, to all the members of the staff and its patients, who have provided invaluable help in the fulfillment of the project giving their consent to become heroes of the photo session.
МИБС — Медицинский институт им.Сергея Березина. Первое и пока единственное в стране частное медицинское учреждение, работающее в области радиологии. Съёмка проводилась в ноябре 2020 года в Онкологической Клинике в посёлке Песочном в окрестностях Санкт-Петербурга и в Протонном центре в Санкт-Петербурге.
Руководители МИБС Наталья Березина и Аркадий Столпнер дали мне карт бланш на съемку жизни Института изнутри, «за кулисами». Про эти две недели можно говорить едва ли не дольше, чем длилась съемка. Самых ярких впечатлений нет. Там все непривычно: доброжелательность всех сотрудников с первых мгновений первой встречи, ответственность и профессионализм каждого сотрудника и специалиста, эффективная организация. Кажется, банальные слова. Но в МИБС это всё РАБОТАЕТ. И это не реклама, а дань уважения людям, создавшим такую медицину в России.
Автор выражает глубокую признательность руководству МИБС, всем сотрудникам и пациентам, оказавшим неоценимую помощь в реализации проекта и согласившимся стать героями фотосъемки.

A boy D-d needed the radiological operation, but previously the contrast solution examination must be done to clarify the localization of tumor.
The boy is a longtime patient of the MIBS. He knows well the doctors and he has good contact and relations with some of them. He is a sharp young boy, smart and kind. But he is scared. All day long during this complicated examination not once nor twice he gets over his fear. All day long all the personnel – psychologist, nurses, intensivists, surgeons, physicists do the job with patience, light ands and high competence.
Yes, physicists, because the complicated and state to the art radiological equipment must be treated and controlled by them. Beside the physicists support the medical personnel at the operations.
Yes, psychologist, because the new technologies, fantastic and nearly spaceborne interiors and equipment, specific preparation for operations are nor covered by personal patients’ experience.

В МИБС лечат всё больше детей. Потому что за эти годы очень многому научились.
Мальчику Д. требовалась радиологическая операция, но прежде необходимо было провести исследование с введением контрастного раствора
для определения особенностей локализации затронутых болезнью тканей. Мальчик лечится уже не первый месяц, он знает врачей, с некоторыми
у него даже сложились отношения. Он бойкий и славный, но ему все равно страшно. Он весь день во время этого непростого исследования
не раз преодолевает свой страх. И весь персонал: психолог, медбрат, медсестры, реаниматологи, хирурги, физики терпеливо, деликатно
и профессионально выполняют свою работу. Да, физики, поскольку сложнейшее радиологическое оборудование и технологии требуют
непосредственного участия в подготовке и проведении операций именно физиков. Да, психолог, потому что сложность технологии, непривычные
интерьеры, почти космический вид сложнейшего оборудования, специфика подготовки к операции и сама операция весьма отличаются
от того жизненного опыта, с которым люди приходят лечиться в МИБС.
